What's New

April 11, 2009 – Here are some new entries. I have rewritten a poem from 2002 called China Cup into Through My Fingers. Here's a bit of fun I wrote for my kids a few weeks ago Making Breakfast. And an October journal entry rewritten as a poem. October Walk. After an excellent critique session at the Utah State Poetry Society, I have made some changes to Casting Call. See link below.

April 5, 2009 – It's National Poetry Writing Month! I'm re-discovering the necessity of writing everyday as a meditation, and remembering how it improves my poetic vocabulary. I'm also exploring the strange phenomenon of internet social networking, and the strange, intoxicating sense of intimacy it can give us through photographs and printed word, without ever communicating with someone face-to-face. Here are some new entries. Revolution, Cat and Smoking Man,Spring Morning,Casting Call

January 11, 2009 - We held the first open-mic at Wildhorse Coffee, with a dozen folks in attendance. Very exciting to be part of the development of a new venue. My children had written new work, and shared it with the group. I have updated the site with a new link to Merchandise, with 4 chapbooks available, including the anthology that was compiled as a fundraiser to help A Cup of Joe stay in business. I have also posted 3 new poems, Triangulation, Pas de Deux, and George Carlin Said. The last one contains the F-word, just an FYI.

January 8, 2009 - Well, I certainly haven't been idle over the past year and change. I have been part of an amazing poet/artist project called The 9 Muses Project. There's an overview of the project and the text of all of my poems on a new page. Our first gallery opening is tomorrow night! I have released 3 chapbooks, and will be posting a new page shortly with information on how to purchase my chapbooks. I will be starting an open-mic at a new venue, Wildhorse Coffee, owned by the former owner of A Cup of Joe, the iconic Salt Lake City coffeehouse that was forced to close August 2007. Our first open-mic will be in 2 days on January 10. Look for us on www.openmikes.org, and www.nowplayingutah.com

May 7, 2007 - Yesterday I walked with my kids by the river. A strange day, feeling more like October in New England, than May in Salt Lake City. Overcast, snowfall visible over the perwinkle mountains, yet the grass was a newborn green ablaze with blue flax. We picked medicinal herbs and threw stones in the river, and imagined ourselves to be trailblazers.

It's good to be writing again, after a long dry spell. My daughter turned 13 on Friday, and this is in honor of her. Here is another love poem, and a rant.

November 30, 2006 - Well, for starters, this site! I'm pretty new to managing a website, so bear with me. I know the site search function isn't working yet, just the Web search. Please report any broken links to me, and let me know in general how the site works for you. I'll post information here about new pages, new poetry on existing pages, and, well, any changes in general.
